Wow, this year has begun on a busy note. As many people know, I am not a full-time artist. I would love to be but currently, I am not. Therefore, one of the many reasons I haven't been posting is because of work. So, I started a new job!!! Between finishing my two weeks at my old one and training at the new one it's been (for the lack of a better work) busy. I am both excited yet nervous about what's to come and I must say, I'm going through some intense painting withdrawals just from being away my study for two weeks.
On another note, I have some big news!!!! I will be part of a group show for Woman's History Month. At the Ewing Library, I will be with some amaing artists displaying our artworks to celebrate the amazing strength and history of women. I feel so honored to be included in this event. If you are free, the reception/opening will be March 9th-2019 between 1:30pm- 4:00pm at the Ewing Library. I hope you get an opportunity to come by and see some amazing work. That being said, March is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. I need to get to work! If you follow me on social media you will see the progress of some additions to the series for this show. I try to show my process of painting and framing because I feel as if there isn't enough information about this. Even though, it's incredibly subjective and depends on your work but I hope to show people the basics. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me.
Now, This show is also a huge chance for me to whip out every single art material I own. I'm the type of artist that connects material/medium to whatever it is I am working on. I feel every medium has it's limitations and beauty and I like to interweave that idea with the story or message. Of course, you must take into account drying times, painting duration and such but when you want to share something with people, something you value, you're already connecting an emotion to that particular painting and that helps you decide. Don't get me wrong, I fully dmire people that choose one medium and work with it throughout their entire career. I believe that to be an immense talent because that artist has learned ALL of the ins and outs of that medium enough so they can always portray what they want onto a picture plane. However, I am a lover of many things and I like to believe that is pertaining to everything in this world (except eating beans, yuck).
Being that we are on a storm watch at this time, I will take this opportunity to paint my heart aways. I hope this read was entertaining and useful for you. I hope I see/meet you at the show. Thank you for reading!!
P.S. My Etsy shop will be closed for a couple of weeks. If you're interested in purchasing an original you can email me. Prints are unavailable until I reopen the etsy shop.
