What in the World Just Happened??!!!!

Wait... what?! A year?! No more than that!!! What... where did the time go?!! I can't believe so much time has passed. Since my last post, I've attended four art shows, moved twice, and bought my first home!!!! Yes!!!! Studio in the Corner is moving on up!! Of course, it will take a bit of time to get it perfected but I can't wait to share it with you. I now live in the woods at the bottom of the mountain. Yessss!! It's a dream place. The fall has been absolutely beautiful with all of the leaves changing. The colors are so inspiring. Also, I have to tell you I am in love with my new works!!! I decided to accumulate 10 pieces before I share them with you all. I hope you enjoy them!

In other news, I did attempt Inktober this year. I ran a poll to see if dreamscapes or figures would be the subject. Figures won hands down!!! I have fully enjoyed doing figures but I did not get to complete Inktober. Sadly, I had sooo much to do, and being that Inktober is more of a project for me, it was put on the back burner. However, what I did paint, I am beyond proud of. I have added the available pieces to my shop.

I've been focusing quite a bit on the figure. The way it moves and how it's affected by human emotions. One of my Inktober pieces was based off of a picture of Brandon Boyd. The picture was him on stage and the way the light was hitting him and making his silhouette glow, it was almost biblical from how beautiful it was. It's like I felt his happiness from his singing. This got me thinking about the depth of my work. I always know I wanted stories to build my work but I never understood what that meant. This past year has been a more self-reflective year. So much so that I separated from social media and created many huge pieces that didn't scream out at me.

What I decided to do for this year was to continue to explore this connection of spirituality, vulnerability, and depth with figure drawing and painting. I have permission from social media influencers to use their images for paintings so I am beyond excited about this project.

On another note, my art studio is not done as I've mentioned before. This winter has been chaotic in terms of temperature. My studio reached -1 degrees F.. Yes... -1!!!!!!! I'm still in shock, to be honest. We used my studio as a second freezer because of the number of people that were coming for the holidays haha. Therefore, I didn't work in my studio but until that gets fixed my dining room has served to be a great art-making space haha.

I CANNOT wait to share 2023 with you all. Thank you so much for all of your continued support and understanding through my art journey. Let's get ready for growth this year. Woop Woop!!
